Hi there! Today marks this blog's first birthday. Happy birthday, Hobbyhorse!
It's been a joy to write about my hobbies here, especially about cooking. I started this blog as I was recovering from a back procedure; I couldn't do all of my hobbies so I wanted to savor the ones I could do. One year later, this blog is a nice reminder to appreciate everything that makes you happy and fulfilled, even if it's a cool recipe.
And I'm giving this blog a birthday present! The present is...the presence of videos! Today's recipe has a little prototype. I don't have any experience with video editing, so it's a little choppy. Please bear with me as I learn the ropes. Maybe it will become another hobby of mine...
Iced Matcha Tea Latte
Ingredients
-1 tsp matcha powder (I used ceremonial grade matcha, which is expensive but also very good)
-1 tsp honey
-1/3 cup filtered water
-4-5 ice cubes
-1 cup milk of your choice
Equipment
-2 cups (or 1 bowl and 1 cup)
-Strainer
-Optional: whisk
Recipe
Start boiling your filtered water. Add matcha powder and honey to bowl or cup. Once water hits boiling, add to your matcha-honey and whisk. (I usually wait a minute after the water boils because I've heard that adding boiling water to green tea can burn it.)
In a separate cup, add ice cubes and milk. Then add your matcha tea, through a strainer so you don't get any bits. Mix around and your matcha latte is fit for consumption.
Result
It's a good latte, chief! Refreshing and matcha always makes me feel calm. Perfect for summer. Not too sweet; the honey just cuts out some of matcha's natural bitterness.

*Video correction: the caption says 1/2 cup milk but I meant to say 1 cup milk.
